S\u00e1rv\u00e1r\u2019s surroundings offer much more than the Thermal and Wellness Spa or the N\u00e1dasdy Castle. Sitke, with its unique guesthouses and romantic apartments, provides secluded and romantic accommodations while serving as the western gateway to a magical region that has shifted on maps over time. This area is the duality of Kemenesh\u00e1t and Kemenesalja.<\/p>\n
According to an old map, Kemenesalja\u2019s boundary stretched from the valley of the L\u00e1nka Stream to Ostffyasszonyfa and Sitke. Some descriptions include nearby V\u00e1s\u00e1rosmiske and G\u00e9rce as part of Kemenesalja.<\/p>\n
There was a time when Kemenesh\u00e1t disappeared from maps of the S\u00e1rv\u00e1r area. A 19th-century publication mentioned only Kemenesalja, whose southern boundary extended to Vasv\u00e1r, a historic former county seat, offering unique attractions like the Kneipp trail and the only surviving monastery of the Pauline Order in Hungary.<\/p>\n
Kemenesalja\u2019s size and position have varied over centuries. At times, it extended beyond the R\u00e1ba River to the \u0150rs\u00e9g region.<\/p>\n
R\u00e9vai\u2019s Great Lexicon identified Celld\u00f6m\u00f6lk, just 15 minutes from S\u00e1rv\u00e1r, as Kemenesalja\u2019s center. This triangle-shaped area, excellent for cycling tours, lies along the R\u00e1ba River\u2019s right bank. Its borders were marked by the Marcal River and the Cser, connected by an imaginary line through Sitke.<\/p>\n
At the turn of the 20th century, other maps depicted Kemenesalja starting south of Vasv\u00e1r and ending at the Farkas Forest near Duka. By the 1950s, military maps divided Kemenes into longitudinal sections, distinguishing Kemenesh\u00e1t\u2019s rolling hills from Kemenesalja\u2019s flat plains. By the 1990s, Kemenesalja had disappeared from most maps, leaving only Kemenesh\u00e1t stretching to S\u00e1rv\u00e1r.<\/p>\n
